Something Exciting for Mortuary Science Students
During the November meeting, the MetFDA Board of Directors approved the association’s new Student Membership Application. We are excited to offer free membership to any student enrolled in a State of New York Department of Health accredited school for funeral directing, after successful completion of the first quarter, semester, or trimester.
Student members will receive the quarterly digital newsletter, access to continuing education opportunities (free or drastically reduced), and the ability to post a free classified ad on the MetFDA website.
Please share this information and application with any qualifying students you know.
New for 2026! MetFDA Student members are eligible to apply for a scholarship to help with the cost of their mortuary science education. Eligibility requirements include:
- Student membership in the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association
- Intention to serve residency and work with a New York funeral home within the five boroughs or Westchester County
- Intention of working in New York as a licensed funeral director
- At least a 3.0 GPA
- As of August 2026, at least a 2nd semester Mortuary Science Student enrolled in one of the four NYS Mortuary Science Programs
