NYSFDA Pilot Chapter Event: Human Resources Legal Update for Funeral Service

As part of the Chapter Model Pilot Program launch, NYSFDA and participating Pilot Chapters are hosting in-person CE sessions throughout September and October.

This session, Human Resources Legal Update for Funeral Service, will provide participants a comprehensive review of hot-button human resources and employment law topics to ensure funeral homes are addressing all necessary employment law issues applicable to their business. 1 CEU

Specific topics to be covered include:

  • COVID-19 compliance, guidance, and precautions
  • COVID-19 vaccinations and employers’ ability to inquire into employee’s vaccination status and/or mandate employees receive the vaccination
  • New York State’s recently enacted HERO Act
  • FMLA, PFL, ADA, and other applicable leave laws
  • White collar salary exemptions
  • Anti-harassment and anti-discrimination laws

Our Presenter

Paul J. Buehler is an Associate with the law firm Bond, Schoeneck, & King, PLLC. He regularly represents clients in a variety of complex labor and employment matters, including defending against actions in federal and state courts alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and wage and hour class action lawsuits, among others.

He has successfully represented employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Labor Relations Board, New York State Division of Human Rights, and New York City Commission on Human Rights.
